Colour and Word project is a complex one. He us seeking to form creative alliances between himself as an artist with very particular social and political interests and writers mostly poets - on a global scale. And to do so without requiring that either he or they should step outside of they're normal creative practice. For the most part, the operation employs the commonest means of correspondence; the international postal system. He sends images to writers: they in turn write on his images, a response of some kind in their own language, and return it to him. Already Rebwar's project has grown and deepebed in a most remarkable way. And it has moved on into the second planned phase the setting up of a series of exhibitions and related cultural and educational events, some of which are particularly directed towards children, covering an expanding number of countries where his project is receiving enthusiastic support, especially from publicly funded institutions. |
