This is a must for anyone interested in the history of Kurdistan, particularly the history of peshmerga. David Adamson, a British journalist, writing in a lucid but informative style, describes a journey he took to that region in 1963 when the Kurds were involved in one of their many wars for independence. He describes his travel "adventures" as he treks across the mountains of Kurdistan meeting and interviewing peshmerga soldiers of various ranks. Of particular interest is his meeting with Mustafa Barzani the iconic leader of the Kurds who led the famous march of the "500" peshmerga to Russia following the collapse of the short-lived republic of Mahabad in 1946-7. The book is full of interesting observations and comments. He writes with the incisive and critical eye of the journalist. I personally found his comments on the guerrilla tactics used by peshmerga with such devastating effect against the Iraqi army especially interesting and useful. With several black and white photographs this is a book to read at leisure for anyone interested in Kurdistan or the Middle East generally.Permalink : https://pmb.institutkurde.org/opac_css/index.php?lvl=notice_display&id=1067 The Kurdish war [texte imprimé] / David Adamson, Auteur . - George Allen & Unwin Ltd., 1964 . - 215 p. : Photos, cartes.
