O. I. Zhigalina monograph 'The Kurdish Khanates of Khorasan under the last Kajars (the late 19th - early 20th c.c.)' discusses the history of Kurdish areas in the North East Iran. Basing her study on the rich materials of major Russian archives, the author examines traditional practices in the social, political and economic spheres of the Kurdish khanates (demonstrating in doin so certain ethno-cultural peculiarities of the Kurds) on the one hand, and aims to reveal the reasons underlying the disintegration of those seemingly stable socio-political entities that occurred in the post-constitutional period on the other hand.
